These vividly pink Rose Malai Ladoo are the ideal small confection to bring some sweetness into your celebrations. These are a delicious mithai that are made with milk and flavoured with rose syrup, perfect for Indian holidays like Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi! One of my favourite things to do at home is make Indian sweets, or mithai. Making sweets at home is a very enjoyable procedure for me. Indian desserts are a labour of love, and some might be difficult to make, like gulab jamun and rasmalai.
And while those are enjoyable to prepare, I usually rely on simple recipes that don't call for a lot of expertise or work over the holiday season. These flowers
Whole milk is all you need to make these ladoos. After that, you flavour it with some rose water and rose syrup (because these are flavoured with roses) and sweeten it with sugar or condensed milk.
Make These Ladoo, Please.
In a heavy-bottomed pan, place one litre of whole milk over medium-high heat. Stir until it boils, stirring frequently. After removing the heat, add about half a cup of water. To achieve softer chena, slightly cool the water before adding the vinegar. Let the vinegar sit for a minute. Next, gradually add vinegar until the milk curdles. I used one teaspoon and one tablespoon of vinegar.
Give the milk two minutes to sit after it curdles. Next, pour a muslin cloth over a sieve to drain the milk. To remove the taste and smell of vinegar, wash the gathered chena in fresh water.
Squeeze as much water out of the muslin cloth as you can by bringing its ends together. Next, tie the cloth somewhere to hang it; I did this by tying it to the tap in my sink. Give it a 15 to 20-minute hang time to let any extra water to drain off.
After combining all the ingredients, reduce the heat. Stir the mixture constantly until it forms a dough. Depending on the thickness of the pan and the heat level, this takes about 15 to 20 minutes.
